On March 20, a wheelhouse and the cabin of a smaller vessel was severely damaged after two vessel collided into each other on the Rhine river.
What happened?
The vessel ‘Delos’ which was enroute from Ress collided with the ‘Ventura’ on the Rhine river, near Xanten.
The vessel ventura was severely damaged during the collision whereas the Delos suffered damages to its port side.
Master injured
Due to the impact of the collision, the wheelhouse and the cabin of the smaller ship was severely damaged, the master and his wife were injured.
The injured who sustained head injuries and shock were airlifted by a rescue helicopter and were taken to hospital for treatment.
Investigation initiated
The traffic on the river was not affected due to the collision. The police have initiated an investigation and have dispatched its launch vessel ‘WSP 13’ and the ‘Milan’ to carry out survey. The work is ongoing to secure the severely damaged vessel and tow it to port for further repairs.
