Wilhelmsen & Partners to Accelerate Marine Electrification in Singapore

Wilhelmsen Port Services signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 26 March with Yinson GreenTech and R W Marine Services, to accelerate the adoption of marine electrification and lower-emissions maritime transport in Singapore, reads an official press release.

The signing ceremony took place on 26 March aboard the Hydromover, Singapore’s first fully electric cargo vessel, during Singapore Maritime Week, held from 24 to 28 March 2025. Under this agreement, Yinson GreenTech will provide its electric vessels and digital solutions to R W Marine Services, who will oversee leasing and electric fleet management.

Collaboration to reduce emissions

As stated, this collaboration aims to reduce emissions and enhance operational efficiency, aligning with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s objectives, paving the way for the wider adoption of electric service vessels in the Port of Singapore.

Through the combined expertise of these organizations, the initiative seeks to demonstrate the feasibility and advantages of electric service vessels, promoting wider adoption within the industry.
