Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS) is part of Wilhelmsen Maritime Services, a Wilh. Wilhelmsen group company. They have the capability to service 2200 ports in 125 countries worldwide and are known to be the world’s largest maritime services network. WSS supply maritime products and services, they specialize in safety products and services, in Unitor products, Unitor and Nalfleet marine chemicals, maritime logistics and ships agency.
WSS announced their acquisition of Timm Marine AS, a company currently owned by Christian Krefting (through Krefting AS), Jacob Stolt-Nielsen (through BSN AS) and Managing Director Tore Strand (through Skarbu AS).
Timm Marine AS is a 240 year old company and they specialize in commercial fishing products such as ropes for fish farm mooring solutions as well as that of net lines, purse lines, trawl lines and crab ropes.
Jacob Stolt-Nielsen and Christian Krefting in a joint statement are quoted to have said : “Since 2009, we have focussed on innovation and industrialisation; we have turned around the business and prepared Timm for further expansion. We are very pleased that an international and industrial company like WSS will carry on our tradition since 1772 to deliver great ropes worldwide and grow the business further. Tore Strand has been instrumental in building up Timm and we are pleased that he will ensure continuity in the leadership as part of WSS.”
President of WSS, Bjørge Grimholt is quoted to have said: “Timm will contribute with some $16m to our revenue with immediate effect. This is a renowned brand with high quality products, which is a good fit with our global supply and service network. We have significant synergy potential going forward. Together, we will develop this business significantly and in line with our ambitious growth targets.”
MD at Timm, Tore Strand said: “Our product quality and strong market position coupled with WSS’s supply chain network is a good commercial and operation fit. Together we can develop and deliver new and better offers for high performance ropes. Timm ropes will still be produced in Slovakia and so the production will remain as it is. Timm in Norway will be integrated into the technical management team in WSS and move into their offices at Lysaker, Norway early next year. We look forward to carry on the tradition from 1772 to deliver great ropes worldwide together with the WSS team.”
