The World Composite Index increased 1% this week, and 169.2% up when compared with same period of 2019, says an article published in Drewry.
Average Composite Index
The average composite index of the WCI, assessed by Drewry for year-to-date, is $2,129 per 40ft container, which is $590 higher than the five-year average of $1,539 per 40ft container.
Drewry’s composite World Container index increased 1% or $41 to $4,284.74 for a 40ft container, which is 169.2% higher than the same period in 2019.
Freight rates on Shanghai-Genoa gained $189 to $6,850 for a 40ft container and those on Shanghai-Rotterdam grew $46 to stand at $6,549 per feu.
Likewise, rates from Rotterdam to Shanghai rose $137 to come in at $2,109 for a 40ft box. Similarly, rates on New York-Rotterdam inched up $1 to $651 per feu. Drewry expect rates to remain on higher side next week.
