The world’s first smart unmanned aircraft carrier started construction in Guangzhou. The ship was built by CSSC Huangpu Wenchong for Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory, says an article published in Xinde Marine News.

The world’s first scientific research ship

With the “i-ship (No, R1, M, I)” intelligent classification symbol, the ship is expected to become the world’s first scientific research ship with the function of remote control and autonomous navigation in open waters, which will bring unprecedented weapons for China to carry out marine scientific research, build a maritime power and develop the social economy.

The smart unmanned aircraft carrier is designed by the Chinese Ship Design and Research Center, and implements three design concepts of “future”, “unmanned system guarantee” and “green intelligence”.

High localization rate on equipment

The important equipment of the intelligent unmanned carrier has a high localization rate. The power system, propulsion system, intelligent system, and survey operation support system it carries are all made in China, and the core technology is independent and controllable.

Fleet Description

The intelligent unmanned carrier is 88.5 meters long, 14.0 meters wide, 6.1 meters deep, has a design draft of 3.7 meters, a design displacement of about 2000 dwt, a maximum speed of 18 knots, and an economic speed of 13 knots.

The ship has a spacious deck and can carry dozens of air, sea, and submarine unmanned systems equipped with different observation instruments.

They are deployed in batches in the target sea area, and they are task-oriented and self-adaptive networking to achieve a three-dimensional target for specific targets.

It is the water surface support platform of the “IMOSOS” of Southern Marine Laboratory.
