Ship-to-ship (STS) transfers are back in the news following last week’s latest sanctions announcements from the European Union, which will see a ban on port calls for ships who are caught carrying out STS transfers of suspected illicit Russian oil in European waters, reports Splash247.
The EU cited a “sharp increase in deceptive practices, and related environmental risks” by vessels trying to circumvent the G7 price cap and a ban on imports of Russian oil to the bloc.
