WSM Expands in India: Maritime Hub and Sustainability Focus

WSM plans on increasing its Indian activities with goal of making India a maritime hub. The company which manages more than 450 vessels worldwide intend to increase their workforce in India by 10% as seafarers and 25% in shore-based employees.

Functional Expansion in India

Towards this end, WSM introduced, Vessel Accounting and Ship Inspection services making India the central hub of these activities. Carl Schou, the CEO of the company notes the importance of the country the to nation’s economy and discusses opportunities in GIFT City, Gujarat.

Training and Sustainability Focus

For its 25th anniversary, the WSM opens a virtual training centre that incorporates cutting-edge technology as part of celebrating the Silver Jubilee of the international maritime training centre based in Mumbai. In preparation for the 2030 maritime scenario, the company has embarked on an emission-conscious strategy along with other aspects. This involves digitization, and diversity in terms of gender and recruiting more women officers and cadets.
