Yang Ming and HMM publicly announced last year that service coverage would be enhanced through additional port calls on their existing routes. Ningbo will be included in the PS4 service, Qingdao will be added to the PS6, and the PN3 service will include extra port calls at Ningbo and Shanghai, reports The Load Star.
ONE’s Transition to the Premier Alliance
Ocean Network Express (ONE) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a smooth transition to the Premier Alliance. “As we transition to the Premier Alliance, we are committed to minimizing any potential disruptions and ensuring a seamless service to meet your shipping needs across these key global trade routes,” ONE stated. The company also assured customers that details of the final sailings for THE Alliance services will be made available as soon as possible.
Formation of the Premier Alliance
The Premier Alliance was formed after Hapag-Lloyd announced it would leave THE Alliance. Hapag-Lloyd said it will join Danish carrier Maersk to form the Gemini Cooperation, which is to start in February. The remaining members of THE Alliance branded the group as the Premier Alliance.
Wan Hai’s New Transpacific Services
Taiwanese shipping line Wan Hai disclosed plans for its new transpacific service commencing in February. The goal being to strengthen its transpacific connections between Asia and the US West Coast. This new PS6 service is going to operate on slot exchange cooperation with ONE. According to Lars Jensen, CEO of Vespucci Maritime, “This de-facto means that Wan Hai is onboard Premier Alliance on this service.” The PS6 service will cover Shanghai, Ningbo, Long Beach, and Oakland before returning to Shanghai and Ningbo.
Wan Hai also announced a rotation adjustment for its AP1 service. IT will provide better transit times for customers in Vietnam, South China, and Taiwan. The new rotation will include Haiphong, Cai Mep, Shekou, Xiamen, Taipei, Los Angeles, Oakland, and Shekou, and back to Haiphong.
In a statement, Wan Hai expressed confidence in these changes, saying, “Wan Hai Lines is confident the new PS6 and AP1 service adjustment will provide customers with even better service quality to the USWC.”
