Yang Ming Marine Transport has released its financial performance for the second quarter of 2025, highlighting both revenue trends and the challenges posed by global market conditions. The company’s latest results were shared following its 405th Board Meeting held on August 12, 2025, as reported by Container News.

Financial Highlights and Global Shipping Trends

In the second quarter of 2025, Yang Ming recorded consolidated revenue of US$1.21 billion, with net profit standing at US$153.09 million. For the first half of the year, total revenue reached US$2.4 billion, generating a net profit of US$274.82 million, with earnings per share at NT$2.51. These results were influenced by weaker cargo volumes, softer freight rates, and ongoing uncertainties in global trade negotiations. The International Monetary Fund’s July 2025 outlook projected global GDP growth at 3.0% for 2025 and 3.1% for 2026, signaling a more stable environment than earlier anticipated.

However, industry analysts, including Drewry and Alphaliner, warned of persistent supply-demand imbalances, as global container fleet capacity is expected to grow by more than 6% in 2025 while demand rises by only about 2–3%. On the trade front, Transpacific lanes continue to face uncertainty tied to tariffs, while Asia–Europe and Asia–Mediterranean trades are expected to remain relatively stable. Yang Ming noted that it will maintain a focus on service reliability, flexible capacity management, and exploring new markets as part of its strategy to adapt to shifting global conditions.
