Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation (Yang Ming) has accepted the 2024 “Sustainability Partner Award“ from Union Pacific Railroad (UP Railroad). The award was presented at UP Railroad‘s headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska. Executives for Yang Ming who accepted the award were the Senior Executive Vice President of Operations, Mr. Wen-Jin Lee, and the Vice President of Logistics at Yang Ming (America) Corp., Mr. Brian Tzeng, reports Yangming.
Recognizing Leadership in Sustainability
UP Railroad–one of America’s largest rail operators-will now hold sustainability Partner Awards to honour business partners that demonstrate leadership in executing sustainability objectives. Environmental Policies, Human Rights Equality, Labor Rights, Cybersecurity Initiatives, Risk Management, Business Integrity.
This prestigious recognition celebrates innovative business models that reduce environmental impact while delivering shared value to stakeholders.
Environmental Protection and Net-Zero Goals
Yang Ming has set an ambitious goal to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. The company employs several key strategies to reach this milestone:
- Vessel Replacement: Upgrading fleet vessels to more energy-efficient models.
- Energy Optimization: Implementing measures to reduce energy consumption.
- Smart Technologies: Leveraging technology to improve operational efficiency.
In 2023, Yang Ming successfully reduced its fleet’s carbon intensity by 61.86% compared to 2008 levels.
