YANMAR Marine International (Yanmar) has launched its first electric propulsion product, the E-Saildrive, designed to simplify the transition to zero-emission sailing. According to Yanmar, this innovation was unveiled globally at the Cannes Yachting Festival and Newport International Boat Show, offering a reliable and efficient solution for sailboats under 40ft.
Easy Installation and Versatile Options
The E-Saildrive is available in three models—SDe7, SDe10, and SDe15—delivering up to 15kW of power. Its ‘plug and play’ system allows for seamless installation, serving as a drop-in replacement for the YANMAR YM engine, with no hull modifications required.
Minimal Maintenance and Global Support
Boasting lower maintenance requirements than combustion engines, the E-Saildrive offers sailors access to Yanmar’s extensive global support network, ensuring technical help is available in over 130 countries.
Advanced Control System
The E-Saildrive comes with a 4.3″ waterproof TFT display and modern alloy control heads, providing intuitive controls and an enhanced user experience for both novice and experienced sailors.
