In a major jailbreak in Yemen about 1,200 prisoners have escaped from a prison in central Yemen, officials say.
Its reported that there were clashes at the prison in the central town of Taiz ahead of the break-out. Prison guards had deserted their posts following the clashes between Houthi rebels and their opponents. As a result the prison inmates fled amid heavy clashes between warring militias.
It is the third major jailbreak in Yemen since a Saudi-led air campaign against the rebels began on 26 March.
