  • The partnership enhances Singapore’s Maritime Digital Twin with real-time data from electric vessels.
  • Supports port-wide electrification in line with Singapore’s 2030 decarbonisation goals.
  • Pilot testing of advanced digital workflows set for launch in the second half of 2025.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Yinson GreenTech (YGT) to enhance Singapore’s Maritime Digital Twin (MDT) and support decarbonisation efforts across the port, reads a release from Yinson.

The MDT is a real-time virtual model of the port that integrates data from vessels, operations, sensors, and the environment to improve navigation, energy efficiency, and emergency response.

As part of the partnership, YGT will contribute operational data from its fleet of electric harbour craft—including Singapore’s first fully electric cargo vessel, the Hydromover—into the MDT. This data will improve accuracy in modelling and simulation, support dynamic decision-making, and enable efficient electric fleet deployment. The collaboration will also focus on developing digital workflows to expand electric vessel operations across the port.

Yinson GreenTech, through its marine electrification division marinEV, has been actively deploying green maritime solutions, including electric hydrofoils and vessel charging infrastructure. These efforts directly support Singapore’s goal of having all harbour craft operating on electric, biofuel, or low-carbon energy sources by 2030.

Jan Viggo Johansen, Managing Director of marinEV, noted the importance of integrating vessel systems with digital platforms to drive cleaner and more efficient port operations. The shared use of data and advanced modelling is expected to enhance sustainability outcomes while paving the way for smarter, scalable maritime logistics.

The next phase of the initiative will see pilot testing of digital twin applications in the second half of 2025. This collaboration represents a major step forward in Singapore’s vision of a greener, digitally enabled port ecosystem.
