Jiangnan Shipyard launched the design scheme of “Carbon Vanguard” NH₃ powered liquefied CO₂ Carrier, which is its important milestone, reports Xindemarinenews.
Timely launch
Jiangnan Shipyard complied with the market demand of carbon dioxide transportation, the development of ammonia fuel engines, and Jiangnan’s latest generation of semi-cooled and semi-pressurized C-tank liquefied gas ships, and timely launched the design scheme of “Carbon Vanguard” NH₃ powered liquefied CO₂ Carrier, which is an important milestone for Jiangnan Shipyard towards the goal of “carbon neutrality” and “peak carbon dioxide emissions“.
Zero carbon target
The ship type is independently developed and designed by Jiangnan Shipyard to meet the design requirements of ammonia fuel Ready. It is equipped with 3,500 cubic meters of ammonia fuel storage tanks, which can achieve “zero-carbon” operation throughout the voyage, and truly achieve the goal of no carbon emissions while carbon transportation. The ship type has obtained AIP from the classification society.
Environmental issues
Global warming is currently one of the environmental issues that the international community pays close attention to. Among the various greenhouse gases that cause climate change, carbon dioxide has the greatest impact on warming.
In recent years, with the frequent occurrence of extreme climates and the setting of “carbon peak and carbon neutral” goals, carbon emission reduction, storage and transportation technologies have received extensive attention from the shipbuilding industry.
Research and development
Jiangnan Shipyard is a leader in the design and construction of a full range of liquefied gas ships. The cryogenic containment system covers IMO A, B and C types and GTT Mark-III type membrane.
The research and development design of this ship further proves Jiangnan’s independent research and development capabilities in the field of a full range of liquefied gas ships, and maintains Jiangnan’s market leading position in the new ship type facing the “dual carbon” goal.
