Zodiac Maritime has placed an order for six 9,000-TEU containerships with Jiangsu Hantong Heavy Industry. These vessels are intended to support Zodiac’s continued global fleet expansion, with deliveries expected in the second half of 2028, reports Container News.

Wuhu Shipyard in China has secured multiple local orders:

  • Two 1,700-TEU containerships have been ordered by Anhui Wangbang Shipping for operations between the Pearl River and Yangtze River deltas.
  • Four 410-TEU LNG/dual-fuel vessels have been ordered by Shanghai Yujing Shipping to serve the Yangtze River route between Shanghai and Wuhan, aligning with regional sustainable shipping initiatives.

Together, these orders illustrate growing demand for both large global ocean-going vessels and smaller, more environmentally friendly ships for inland and regional trade, reflecting continued investment in China’s shipbuilding sector.
