UK-based shipping giant Zodiac Maritime has taken delivery of its ninth 7,000 CEU dual-fuel pure car and truck carrier (PCTC), built by China’s Yantai CIMC Raffles Shipyard.
Designed to operate on both conventional fuel and liquefied natural gas (LNG), the vessel marks another step in Zodiac’s ongoing push toward greener and more efficient maritime transport.
A Step Forward in Sustainable Shipping
The newly delivered PCTC, designed by Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI), can cut greenhouse gas emissions by 20–30% compared to traditional fuel-powered ships, thanks to its LNG dual-fuel capability.
During sea trials, the ship underwent a series of performance evaluations, including engine efficiency, navigation systems, safety equipment, and anchor operations. All major systems passed, ensuring the vessel is ready for safe, reliable, and eco-friendly service in the global shipping network.
Expanding Fleet and Strategic Partnerships
Zodiac Maritime’s relationship with CIMC Raffles began in October 2021, when it ordered four 7,000 CEU carriers. The company later expanded the order to ten ships by May 2023.
Beyond car carriers, Zodiac operates a diverse fleet including containerships, bulk carriers, tankers, and LPG carriers. Recent fleet growth includes a $120 million investment in four tankers from Fukuoka, Japan, in August 2023, further cementing its position as a leading player in multiple maritime sectors.
The delivery of the ninth LNG dual-fuel PCTC is not just another fleet expansion for Zodiac Maritime it’s a move toward a cleaner, more sustainable future in global shipping. With one more vessel to be delivered in the series, Zodiac continues to align operational growth with environmental responsibility, setting an example for the maritime industry’s green transition.
