How The Garbage Islands Came Into Existence

A common fact is that the Ocean has a lot of garbage in it.  NASA has released a video showing how much trash is afloat in the Ocean.  In five areas, there is more waste than found anywhere else.  They are known as the Garbage Islands, the floating islands of trash.  The video shows how the plastic wastes have been carried in the ocean to five specific gyres.  The research is based on the floating buoys released by NOAA in the last 35 years.

And, there is a swirling pattern in the ocean due to the natural gravitation of the garbage.  Due to the swirling pattern, the garbage settles in different parts of the world.  Check out the video for this amazing research by NASA.
