STENA CLEAR SKY RESCUED A FRENCH COUPLE NORTH OF BRAZIL

heroic

August 16th the Stena Clear Sky with captain John L Burton on ballast passage rescued the couple Pablo Tatulli, Marion Lacan and their cat Loustic, north of Brazil (French Guiana).  The reason why the small sailing boat required assistance was a combination of bad weather and vessel malfunction/breakdown.  They had lost power some 4 days prior to the rescue and could not start their generator.  The couple and the cat were however all well and in good health.  August 17th they were dropped off in Port of Spain, Trinidad.

“I’d just like to say that I was lucky to be passing, in the right place and time, and I only did what anyone in my position would have done,” comments captain John L Burton.

“When we first saw the ship lights at night and heard the captain´s voice on the radio, we felt relieved.  Then, this giant ship came towards us.  We were really impressed by its size next to our little sailing boat.  All we could see was the giant dragon face painted on the side becoming bigger and bigger.  That was really scary.

Thanks to the captain´s perfect maneuverer, we were able to come on board “sain et sauf”. The crew was welcoming and worried about our well-being. We were exhausted so they brought us to a cabin, covered us with food and drinks.  We finally slept an entire night, the first time in a long time!” tells the rescued couple Pablo and Marion.
