An electrical engineer sustained injuries to his fingers and hands while repairing the engine of a container ship at sea off Kemaman.  Babic Dijan, Serbian national, was part of the 24 member crew of Liberian registered vessel travelling from Singapore to Bangkok.

Reports say, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency east coast region commander said “We received a distress call at 10pm last night from the ship’s captain, when the vessel was 40 nautical miles off Kemaman, requesting for help to send his crewmen to hospital.

“We despatched KM Rentap to the ship’s aid and reached the vessel at 2.15am today.  The victim was fetched and sent to Kemaman port before being sent to Kemaman Hospital,” he added.

Dijan is reported to be in stable condition, while the container ship continued on its voyage to Bangkok.
