Winners Of This Year

Hovertravel Ltd won the 2023 Safety Drill Competition, receiving a £500 prize that the crew generously chose to donate to a charity improving accessibility to Ryde Beach for everyone, including wheelchair users.

Deeds Of The Competition

Operating the sole passenger hovercraft service in the UK between Portsmouth and the Isle Of Wight, Hovertravel showcased a well-rehearsed passenger evacuation drill, emphasizing efficient evacuation of passengers with limited mobility.

Deborah Layde, Chief Executive of The Seafarers’ Charity, commended Hovertravel’s crew for their dedication to passenger safety during the unique cross-channel journey and praised their decision to donate the prize money to enhance beach accessibility.
