Explosion occurred in the engine room of a passenger ro-ro ferry at Heraklion Port, Crete, reports Maritime Bulletin. 

What happened?

An explosion occurred in the engine room of passenger ro-ro ferry BLUE HORIZON at Heraklion Port, Crete, in the morning Aug 24. 

Pump explosion

Officials said that the pump had exploded. As of afternoon Aug 24, the ship remained berthed at Heraklion.

Crew condition

  • Four injured crew were taken to hospital.
  • It is said that their condition isn’t life-threatening.
