Cuba – U.S. ferry services renewed after 54 long years

                        Following the Cuban revolution the ferry services between Cuba and U.S. were stopped in early 1960’s.The same has been renewed after 54 long years which was revealed in December, after high level discussions.  A Higher initiative has been taken by issuing licenses to two U.S Companies for the passenger ferry services between Cuba and U.S.

                  Joseph Hinson,vice president of Baja Ferries USA,”If all goes smoothly we could have things up and running by September.” He further revealed that the company has to get approval from Cuba.  But sources from Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control confirmed the news of issuing license but refused to reveal to whom and the number of license issued.

              Americans are not allowed to Visit Cuba on regular tourist Vacations.  So plans to offer services by:

                    “After the final negotiations with cuban government the operations will start immediately” says James Whisenand, a Miami lawyer. License has been issued to 3 more companies which has a plan to operate service from Key west to Havana.
