- shipping has already seen massive disruptions this year like the Ever Given running aground in the Suez Canal
- the floods in China and Europe are yet “another body blow” for global supply chains
The global shipping industry was disrupted again, this time by floods in Europe and China says an article on CNBC.
Massive disruptions this year
Shipping has already seen massive disruptions this year. As parts of the world rebounded from the pandemic, increased spending led to a shortfall of containers, creating delays and driving up prices.
Flood in Europe and China
Heavy rainfall and flooding have devastated parts of western Europe. Some of the most severe floodings happened in Germany and Belgium. This is really going to disrupt the supply chain because the railway links have all been broken. Flooding in the Chinese province of Henan is made worse by the fact that the province is landlocked.
