On Friday morning around 1 a.m., a 35-year-old passenger from Brazil, onboard the cruise ship fell overboard when he climbed over the railing and onto the lifeboat davit. The report says that the passenger was on the seventh deck when he lost his grip and went into the water about 17 miles east of Turks and Caicos.
U.S. Coast Guard has launched a search operation for the missing passenger approximately 80 nautical miles northeast of Mayaguana, Bahamas. The Cruise ship has launched two small boats to search and rescue the missing passenger.
Confirming the incident, the cruise line said, “He was spotted by Oasis of the Seas crew members intentionally going over the side of the ship. A Coast Guard helicopter was dispatched and is currently assisting us with the search. Our Care Team is providing support to the guest’s family and our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time.”
The Video of the incident was shot by the passengers which features the man, crew and other passengers. The attempt of pulling him back to the deck failed when he lost his grip.
