An animal rights group advised shipowners and ship brokers to stop shipping live animal by sea.
Dozens of cattle died on a ship travelling between Victoria and Tasmania at Baltic strait on Sunday. This incident is considered to be one of the worst live shipping disasters in Australian history. An investigation for the reason and effects of the incident is underway.
Fifty-nine out of about 200 cattle were thrown into the waters across the Bass Strait or on arrival. The concern is that the animal welfare organisation has ordered a suspension of the trade from Tasmania.
Rough weather conditions are expected to be the reason for the incident.
