DSIC and CSE Attained AiP Certificate For Methanol-Fueled VLCC Design

555

The methanol-fuelled VLCC design from Dalian Shipbuilding Industry (DSIC) and Cosco Shipping Energy Transportation has obtained AiP certificate from the classification societies of CCS and DNV, says an article published in Seatrade Maritime News.

About VLCC design

The new generation 310,000 dwt VLCC design, jointly developed by DSIC and Cosco Shipping Energy Transportation, is equipped with two methanol fuel tanks with capacity up to 10,000 cu metre, which could be able to meet the whole voyage fuel demands.

Green methanol

Green methanol has a great potential for reducing carbon emissions and is becoming popular in the shipping industry. The design of this VLCC provides a new and practical solution for large size tanker’s fuel option, said Cosco Shipping Energy Transportation

The design is optimised for realistic operational profile provider by Cosco Shipping Energy Transportation and is a part of the preparation of DSIC and Cosco Shipping Energy Transportation to implement a greenhouse gas reduction strategy.
