A general cargo ship, carrying 2000 tons of bagged cement, ran aground after hitting a reef and sank alongside a pier in the port of Tagulandang, North Sulawesi, Indonesia.
The local media reported that her bottom got struck when the vessel was approaching the port but the captain managed to maneuver to approach the quay. But the water ingress continued which resulted in sinking of the vessel.
All the 18 crew members on board managed to escape from the ship without any injuries. No information was available regarding pollution, her disposition and the plans for her salvage.
