The Singapore-based ship owner Peninsula International Shipping PTE Ltd. and the Isle of Man Ship Registry (IOMSR) are expanding their partnership, as reported by IOM Ship Registry.

New agreement

The 12,113-tonne chemical tanker Peninsula XI is the most recent vessel to register. A ceremony was held at Hyundai Mipo Shipyard Co Ltd in South Korea to formally deliver and register the vessel to the IOMSR. The Peninsula XI joins Peninsula IX and Peninsula X, two sister tankers run by the Singaporean business under the IOMSR flag.

With the new agreement, the IOMSR will broaden its product portfolio throughout Asia, a crucial area where two-thirds of its fleet is now controlled. To boost its ASEAN operations, the IOMSR recently announced that it is joining the Asian Shipowners Association (ASA), which has its headquarters in Singapore.

Technical support

The Peninsula XI was welcomed to the Manx flag by Cameron Mitchell, director of the IOMSR, as it represents over a third of the tonnage flown under the Red Ensign.

We’re happy to be able to strengthen our partnership with Peninsula International Shipping PTE Ltd and provide better support and service through Captain Raja Ray, our representative in Singapore, he said.

“Vessel owners need top-notch technical support, and we excel at it and take delight in it – responding right away whenever there are flaws or problems with state control.”

Also, we provide consumers with a simple, effective, and affordable service that includes low rates, a single annual payment, and no hidden expenses. Other open registries, in contrast, charge for practically all add-on services.

Digital certificates

“We continue to develop and lead. We were one of the first flag states to offer digital certificates. We were also the first flag state to offer a discount on registration fees for vessels using green technology and we were the first registry to launch a seafarer welfare app to support seafarers’ mental health.”

He said: “On behalf of the IOMSR it was a pleasure to be asked and attend the delivery of the Peninsula XI the third Peninsula International Shipping PTE Ltd ship to be delivered from Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co Ltd.”

A Peninsula International Shipping PTE Ltd spokesperson said: “This agreement for IOMSR to add another of our vessels to its fleet is clear proof of the excellent partnership between our two organisations. We look forward to continuing this close working relationship for many years into the future.”
