On April 24-27, the guided-missile destroyer USS John Finn (DDG 113) of the Arleigh Burke class participated in a series of drills with the Republic of Korea (ROK) Navy to improve interoperability between the two navies, as reported by Maritime Fairtrade.
Maritime Counter-Special Operations Exercise (MCSOFEX)
The Maritime Counter-Special Operations Exercise (MCSOFEX) involves defensive training, drills, and cooperation between the US and Republic of Korea (ROK) forces. The exercises enhance the relationship, interoperability, and regional security between the two countries. The presence of liaisons on both participating ships facilitates coordination and troubleshooting capabilities.
Free and open Indo-Pacific region
The Maritime Counter-Special Operations Exercise (MCSOFEX) focused on enhancing the ability to carry out combined operations and strengthen battle posture and interoperability. Rear Admiral Select Hwang Jong Seo led the exercise, which involved the participation of the US destroyer John Finn and US Army Apache helicopters, alongside several ROK ships. The exercise took place under the responsibility of Commander, Task Force (CTF) 71, the principal surface force of the US 7th Fleet. The US 7th Fleet regularly engages with allies and partners to maintain a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
