Navios Expands LR2 Orderbook In China

Navios Maritime Partners, led by Angeliki Frangou, has returned to Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard for two additional Aframax/LR2 new builds, reports Splash 247.

Expansion of LR2 Orderbook

This deal, signed during the delivery of one of Navios’ 5,300 TEU containership new builds, increases Navios’ LR2 order book at the yard to six vessels.

Details of the Deal

While brokers estimate a price of around $72 million for similar tonnage, specific pricing and delivery details for Navios’ new LR2s have not been disclosed.

These tankers will be equipped to handle conventional fuel, methanol, and LNG.

Technical Specifications

The 249.9-meter-long tankers, classified by ABS, have been developed by Zhoushan Changhong in collaboration with CIMC Shanghai Research Institute to meet the latest regulatory requirements.

Navios’ Shipbuilding Portfolio

Navios has a history of booking orders at Zhoushan Changhong, with a total of 16 ships constructed at the yard in recent years.

Additionally, the company has six 150,000 DWT units scheduled for delivery from K Shipbuilding in South Korea.
