BAR Technologies (BARTech) joins forces with Groke Technologies to pioneer advanced navigation solutions tailored for WindWings technology.

They are aiming to revolutionize vessel navigation and port maneuverability, reports Renewable Energy Magazine.

Deployment on Pyxis Ocean

Mitsubishi Corporation’s Pyxis Ocean, chartered by Cargill, becomes the pioneer vessel retrofitted with WindWings technology, boasting significant fuel savings of up to 30%.

Since its installation in August 2023, Pyxis Ocean has completed multiple voyages with WindWings and Groke Pro operational.

Enhancing Situational Awareness with Groke Pro

Groke Pro, an integral component of WindWings technology, offers unparalleled situational awareness by providing imagery of the vessel’s bridge from various onboard locations.

Leveraging sensor fusion technology, it amalgamates data from radar, AIS, and day/night cameras, empowering crews with real-time risk analysis and decision-making support.

CEO Perspective on Industry Transition

John Cooper, CEO of BAR Technologies, emphasizes the significance of partnerships like Groke’s in propelling the maritime sector toward a cleaner, more efficient future.

Cooper highlights the importance of overcoming operational challenges through innovation and strategic collaborations with industry leaders like Groke.

Addressing Industry Challenges

Amidst the maritime industry’s transition to low-carbon propulsion systems and digitalization, there’s a pressing need to tackle skills shortages while ensuring the preservation of traditional crew roles.

Solutions like Groke Pro optimize WindWings technology, bolstering operational efficiency without compromising seafarer safety.
