Adriatic Gate Container Terminal (AGCT) Achieves Record Throughput

1335

The Adriatic Gate Container Terminal (AGCT), managed by International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), recently set new records at the Port of Rijeka, Croatia by achieving its highest monthly throughput and completing the largest single vessel exchange to date.

Monthly Throughput Record

AGCT surpassed its previous record from July 2024 by 11 per cent, reinforcing its role as Croatia’s largest seaport and a central logistics hub for the Balkans and Central Europe. This achievement is notable considering AGCT was operating on a single berth due to a 100-meter deepening project. The project, completed in October, now allows AGCT to resume two-berth operations, enhancing its service capacity.

Single Vessel Exchange Record

AGCT also achieved a new milestone by handling 7,120 TEUs in a single vessel exchange during the servicing of the Maersk Huacho, part of the 2M Alliance (Maersk and MSC). This vessel connects China and other Far East ports to the Adriatic region. Additionally, AGCT set a record with the Ocean Alliance (CMA CGM, COSCO, Evergreen, and OOCL), processing 3,193 TEUs.

Increased Rail Throughput

Following disruptions from the Red Sea crisis, AGCT’s rail operations have rebounded, with rail throughput accounting for over 41 per cent of total throughput, highlighting AGCT’s strategic importance in intermodal transport and regional supply chains.
