In a breakthrough for smarter, more sustainable shipping, COSCO SHIPPING (Qingdao) has unveiled its new intelligent cargo hold cleaning robot — the “Hold Cleaning Elf.” Developed specifically for bulk carriers, this robot introduces a new era of automation in ship cleaning, aimed at boosting operational efficiency and minimizing environmental impact.

Compact and Efficient Design: Weighing under 70 kg with dimensions of 700×440×780 mm, the “Hold Cleaning Elf” is easy to deploy and can be operated remotely at speeds of up to 12 meters per minute, ensuring quick and efficient cleaning.

Safety and Environmental Benefits: By employing magnetic adsorption technology, the robot eliminates the need for high-risk manual cleaning tasks. Additionally, its eco-friendly operation significantly reduces chemical usage, protecting both the hull coatings and the marine environment.

Superior Adaptability: The robot’s robust design allows it to traverse complex surfaces such as corrugated and stiffened bulkheads, providing over 95% cleaning coverage even in challenging conditions.
