On July 3, an empty cargo ship ran aground off Lihadonisia, Greece. Fortunately there were no casualties or pollution reported from the incident.
Vessel was enroute from Psachna port, Euboea to Thessaloniki, when it lost control and went straight on to the island. All seven crewmen were safe.
A rescue team from the nearby port started investigating the damage. Divers reportedly found a breach in hull and fear more breaches from the incident. A tug boat was in the scene and has started pulling the vessel off the ground.
The investigations by divers and authorities has been kick-started, to find and fix the root cause of the problem.
