GALAXY (ex ADRIATICA I) auctioned, towed to ship repair yard
On October 15th, the passenger ro-ro ship GALAXY (formerly known as ADRIATICA I) left Empedocle port, Italy on tow of an offshore tug. The ship is reportedly being towed to Greece. The Vessel was stuck in Empedocle since 2013. The vessel was originally commissioned for ferry service to the Pelagie Islands; she was reportedly detained by PSC for insufficiencies, and later detained by the court for failure in paying debts. In late September, the vessel was auctioned and sold to Galaxy Maritime Company. The Vessel is reported to undergo major overhaul and repairs.
