Two Vessels Detained Over Illegal Oil Transfers

On August 1, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency have detained two vessels suspected of involvement in illegal ship-to-ship oil transfer.

What happened?

Around 10.50pm, MMEA Labuan enforcement chief Capt Che Adnan Md Isa who patrolling at Sea off Labuan when they spotted the suspicious vessels. Upon further inspection, he found the crew guilty of carrying the oil transfers without informing the Marine department.

Vessels detained:

MMEA Labuan enforcement chief Capt Che Adnan Md Isa, said: “We have detained four crew of Indonesian nationals and a Malaysian believed to be the company’s staff”.

Both the vessels involved were detained with their crew members. They will be further questioned by the authorities for their involvement.

Che Adnan also said that a total of 1,060 checks were conducted so far this year, which led to 18 arrests for various offences.
