Japan Engine Corp (J-Eng) has received the first order for its updated 6UEC45LSE-C1 engine design. The engine will be installed in roro vessel which to be built at Kanda Shipbuilding Co.

The C1 mark is a higher output version of the UEC45LSE engine in service since 2004 and aimed at roro vessels, handy-sized bulk carriers and small-sized chemical tankers. The series has accumulated more than 250 engine orders to date.

J-Eng noted that high reliability and low fuel consumption make the UEC45LSE ideal for roro vessels, with operators running demanding scheduled services and requiring tight control of costs.
