According to an article published in Safety4sea, a 14-foot skiff carrying four crewmembers struck a towing vessel.
What happened?
USCG received a report on 10 February, it stated that a 14-foot skiff carrying four crewmembers from the ITV Melvin L. King struck a towing vessel and all four people entered the water at mile marker 41, in the Port Allen Route near Belle River, Louisiana.
Search and rescue
At the time of the incident, four people were onboard the vessel. Among them, two have been rescued while one remains missing. Unfortunately, the body of a crew member was also recovered.
A search and rescue operation was launched, to find the crew member who is missing. The Port Allen Route is closed from mile marker 41 to mile Marker 55. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
