Significant investment

Greek-owned maritime businesses have already increased their annual expenditure to the greatest level in decades, both in new builds and second-hand boats, with at least $13 billion invested so far this year. This is anticipated to exceed $14 billion and 450 ships by the end of the year.

According to VesselsValue data, Greek shipowners had made orders for 99 vessels worth $6.3 billion as of the end of October.

Greek shippers have also purchased 330 old vessels for $6.51 billion, according to Allied Shipbroking.

Dry bulkers are the most commonly used, followed by tankers, with tankers and containerships dominating new orders.
