Anchored Bulk Carriers Collide!

Two bulk carriers anchored between Pender and Satuna islands, British Columbia, Canada, collided last week, reports Maritime Bulletin.

What happened?

Bulk carrier GOLDEN CECILIE dragged its anchor on Mar 30 and collided with the MV GREEN K MAX 1. The vessel’s anchors got entangled. 

Any damage or injury reported?

No injury or pollution was reported from either vessel. GOLDEN CECILE was reported to have suffered a small hole portside above the waterline.

Carried out operations

Both the ships moved to Vancouver after the accident, to carry out cargo operations. 

Left Vancouver 

  • GREEN K MAX 1 left Vancouver on Apr 3, bound for Panama Canal.
  • GOLDEN CECILIE left Vancouver on Apr 8, port of destination unknown.
