8 armed robbers managed to climb on board of Mexican oil platform SANDUNGA at night Jul 19, at the Bay of Campeche, Gulf of Mexico, says an article published in Maritime Bulletin.
About the attack
They fired shots in the air, personnel hid in any shelters they could find, while robbers ransacked platforms, taking with them mostly, professional equipment, like diving equipment, communication devices, breathing apparatuses, etc.
Action taken
Law enforcement teams arrived at the platform early in the morning of Jul 20, long after robbers fled.
