Many of us are now preferring to live in blissful ignorance of Covid-19’s existence after two years of being barraged with briefings and updates. We’ve come to inform you, regrettably, that the infection is still very much active. In fact, a newly discovered, highly transmissible variant of the disease has raised anxiety among doctors, as reported by Time Out.

Omicron subvariants

Many nations, including the UK, are experiencing an increase in the Omicron subvariants XBB and XBB.1.5. 40% of Covid cases in the USA at the beginning of last month were caused by XBB.1.5. In contrast to other Omicron subvariants, WHO suggested that XBB had a greater risk of reinfection back in October.

If you begin to experience signs of COVID, you should follow the official UK guidelines and stay at home. To reduce the chance of spreading, you should also get tested (if you have any kicking around) and protect your face when you’re out in public.

And if you want a reminder of the warning flags, look no further.
