The incident had left a breach above the water line in one of the ballast tanks. Authorities detained the bulk carrier for inspection. It was released after the inspection and allowed to resume voyage towards Western Scheldt, bound for Ghent, Belgium. The bulk carrier Mangan Trader 2 suffered a collision with product tanker Alkiviadis at 17 nautical miles off Ostend, Belgium. The accident took place due to the failure in the steering gear of the bulk carrier and dashed the already anchored product tanker Alkiviadis.
The product tanker had to undergo repair work of the breach and later on allowed to resume the voyage. So far there is no report of any injury or water pollution. The details of the vessels are given below:
