Injured Crew Member Gets Immediate Medical Aid

On Monday [28th December], the bulk carrier made an unplanned stop in Bermuda for medical assistance for a crew member who had broken both legs in an accident.

The owners of the bulk carrier sent an email reporting that a crew member had sustained two broken legs as a result of an accident while the vessel was on passage from Gibraltar to New Orleans, USA.

Arrangements were made for the vessel to divert to Bermuda and she arrived at the pilot station at 0900 local time on Monday, December 28, whereupon the injured crewman was transferred to the Pilot/Rescue Boat ‘St. David’ and brought ashore to a waiting ambulance at Ordnance Island for onward transfer to King Edward Hospital for treatment.

The ship resumed her voyage.
