Capesize Bulk Carrier Detained With 30 Kilos of Cocaine

  • Two Capesized bulk carriers were detained for cocaine trafficking simultaneously.
  •  From bulk carrier FRONTIER FALCON, Anti-narcotics division and Coast Guard seized 25 kilos of cocaine initially. 
  • Another box ship was detected with 30 kilos of cocaine attached to the ship’s hull. 

A ship with box of cocaine, attached to its hull was detected by anti-narcotics police division, Turkey, Black sea, on Aug 22 or 23, reports Maritime Bulletin. 

Similar cocaine bust cases

Two Capesized bulk carriers were detained for cocaine trafficking simultaneously. Though yet to be confirmed, according to local officials:

  • both the ships arrived from Colombia and 
  • crew were involved, including Captains.

First case – 25 kilos of cocaine seized

Turkey’s anti-narcotics police division handled a case very similar to the FRONTIER FALCON at Icdas, Turkey. 

From the bulk carrier that arrived with cargo of coal from Colombia at Eren port, Zonguldak, Anti-narcotics division and Coast Guard seized 25 kilos of cocaine.

Second case – 30 kilos of cocaine seized

Box with 30 kilos of cocaine, attached to the ship’s hull, was detected by anti-narcotics police division of Zonguldak, Turkey, Black sea, on Aug 22 or 23. 

The ship wasn’t identified, but according to history and tracks of ships in Eren, it is, almost undoubtedly, a brand new Chinese Capesize bulk carrier SHANDONG DE RUI, but it is yet to be confirmed.

Crew detained

Three crew members including the captain were detained.

Bulk carrier SHANDONG DE RUI, IMO 9872042, dwt 180613, built 2020, flag Marshall Islands, manager SHANDONG SHIPPING CORP, China.
