Capsized Trawler Crew Rescued by Singapore Navy

Accident: Trawler Capsized

Location: around seven nautical miles north-east of Pedra Branca
Casualties: None

The Singapore Navy was alerted of the capsizing of a Malaysian-registered fishing trawler, PAF 4658, around seven nautical miles north-east of Pedra Branca, in Singapore waters.

The Republic of Singapore Navy patrol vessel,  RSS Independence, was deployed to the spot and all five crew members on board were rescued.  Two of the crew members had sustained minor injuries and they were given first aid immediately.  The crew was transported to Singapore, and the authorities are verifying their nationalities.

In the meanwhile, the Maritime and Ports Authority of Singapore has deployed three vessels to try and salvage the capsized vessel and to keep traffic off the area.
