Cargo ship collision with Guaiba bridge

Cargo ship Piratini collided with Guaiba Bridge at Porto Alegre, Brazil, at around 2130 LT May 28, while leaving the port. The vessel was with carrying a cargo of soybean meal bound for Rio Grande.

Bridge pillar was seriously damaged. The bridge traffic is suspended, which may lead to some supply shortages in the region.

The ship sustained slight damages and continued voyage, she reached Rio Grande late May 29.
