Chief Officer fell overboard from PIL container ship, North Pacific, reports Maritime Bulletin.

What happened?

A man fell overboard from container ship KOTA LAZIM at around 0500 Tokyo time Sep 12 in the Pacific, abeam of Urup island, southern Kuril Archipelago.

According to reports, he is a Chief officer, 35-year old Chinese nationality. 

Voyage interrupted

The ship interrupted her voyage and assisted by Japanese CG plane, turned back and started SAR. KOTA LAZIM is en route from Yangshan China to Manzanillo Mexico. 

As of 2200 Tokyo time Sep 12, the ship was adrift on a search track, understood to be continuing SAR.
