On Aug 3, 2017, the cargo ship “Changhehaiyang”, 3987 GT, ran aground in the morning of in the Pearl River estuary off Longxue island.
It was travelling downstream from Nansha, while en route to Guangzhou. The vessel was refloated the same evening with the rising tide and moored for inspection.
The ship escaped any serious damages, instead outdated charts, which may explain the grounding.
