Andrea Doria

Undersea explorers who spent several days studying the wreck of the Andrea Doria off Nantucket are planning to share their findings.

The crew from Washington-state based OceanGate has scheduled a news conference in Boston.

Using a five-man submersible, the crew spent last week exploring the Italian ocean liner that went down in 1956 after it collided with another ship.  Fifty-one people died in total, 46 of them on the Andrea Doria.

The ship has been resting on the ocean floor about 240 feet down and about 50 miles south of Nantucket ever since.

Sixteen divers have died exploring the wreck over the years.
